Control: Resonant is a supernatural action-adventure RPG and the follow-up to the award-winning Control. It sends you into a version of Manhattan sliding toward paranormal collapse, puts you in the shoes of Dylan Faden, and asks you to fight a cosmic force that is rewriting reality — while Dylan himself fights to hold on to his humanity.

The Story So Far

The FBC (Federal Bureau of Control) kept Dylan locked up for years. As the paranormal crisis spins out of control, the same people who caged him decide they need him on the front line after all.

The threat is unlike anything conventional forces can handle: a mysterious cosmic entity is tampering with the laws that hold the world together. Dylan carries the burden of opposing it, which means learning to command abilities that are still new to him and throwing himself against the dangers swarming across Manhattan.

His personal mission runs parallel to the main catastrophe. Along the way he searches for his sister Jesse Faden, the Director of the FBC, digs into the mysteries surrounding both siblings, and works to contain the hazardous forces leaking out of the Oldest House before reality gives way entirely.

A City Being Rewritten

The setting is a ruined, unrecognizable Manhattan — vast, strange, and deliberately unsettling. Whole districts fold in on themselves: spaces that scramble your perception, corridors bent by gravity anomalies, geometry that stops making sense the longer you look at it.

That spatial chaos is not just set dressing. It gives exploration and puzzle-solving a new dimension, and it keeps combat unpredictable, because the ground under a fight can shift as quickly as the enemies do. Nameless, indescribable forces are redrawing the skyline and rewriting the rules of the world in real time.

You do not walk through this alone. New faces and returning companions from the world of Control join the journey — a dangerous road, but one with openings and opportunities hidden along the way.

Powers That Grow With You

Dylan's past is the key to his present. Tracing his history explains the situation he is in now, and pulling at the FBC's innermost secrets exposes uncomfortable truths about what the Bureau knew and what threatens everyone else.

Gameplay centers on the power building inside Dylan's body. You decide what form it takes and how it evolves: a deep progression system lets you shape exactly how he answers each escalating crisis. Over the course of the story he transforms from a former test subject into a living supernatural weapon — and the game is explicit that the bonds he builds with other people are what keep his humanity intact along the way.

The Shifter: A Melee Weapon That Changes Shape

Threats in Control: Resonant evolve as you fight them, so your arsenal has to keep up. Dylan combines elemental abilities, the environment around him, and one very unusual tool: the Shifter, a shapeshifting melee weapon that channels raw force.

The Shifter's forms cover different tempos of combat. Lock it into a two-handed hammer and swing for slow, bone-crushing blows; flow into a pair of quick, precise twin blades when speed matters more than weight. The weapon shifts between forms freely mid-fight, which makes it the answer to whatever the corrupted city throws at you.

Jesse Faden and the Broken Quarantine

One piece of backstory frames the whole game. Years ago, Jesse Faden walked into the Oldest House to confront the threats inside it, and as Director of the FBC she maintained the containment that kept those dangers locked down.

That containment has now failed. The supernatural outbreak has spilled out of the Oldest House and into the streets of Manhattan, and the Bureau no longer has the situation in hand. The symmetry is deliberate: where Jesse once went in, Dylan now has to go out — into the wider disaster — and shut it down before the collapse spreads any further.
